Race points can look like the whole story in Tycoon Racers, but they're really only the first step. If you've played a Monopoly Go Partners Event, you'll recognise the feeling: everyone sees a big number climbing and assumes the busiest team is winning everything. That isn't how the race format works. Flags are spent on the three-dice popper, and the result moves your team along that round's track. Your track position decides the round placement. Then the placement awards championship points, and those points decide where the teams finish across the event. So, a massive early lead may look great, yet it can be worth no more than a slim lead if both teams take first place.
What the scoreboard is really telling you
Think of race points as movement, not the prize itself. A team needs enough movement to pass the team in front or stay clear of the one behind. Anything beyond that may still help with lap rewards, but it doesn't automatically improve the championship score. In a recent team setup, the first two rounds awarded 10, 8, 5, and 3 points by placement. The last race paid double. That's the bit plenty of players miss. Two comfortable first-place rounds don't make a team untouchable when another squad can gain 20 points from one well-timed win. Check the scoring panel in your own event, though, since these details can change.

Save Flags for moments that change placement
You'll often see a team keep rolling after it's thousands of points ahead. It feels safe, sure, but it can drain the Flags needed later. A better habit is to watch the actual gap. If first place is only 60 points away late in the race, a push could be worth it. If you're already far ahead, slow down and see whether another team responds. There's no perfect multiplier, either. Lower settings give you more control and more chances to stop when you've done enough. Higher settings make sense when time is short and the position is genuinely at risk. Don't roll just because the track is there.
Play the last race with a plan
The closing round has extra weight, so teams need to arrive with something left. That doesn't mean ignoring the earlier races. Early points, lap rewards, and a decent standing all matter. It means treating Flags like a shared reserve rather than a pile to burn through in one burst. Before you spend, ask what position you can realistically reach, what that place adds to the championship total, and whether the reward justifies the cost. If your group wants extra support before racing begins, some players choose to buy Monopoly Go Partners Event Slots so the team can focus on coordination. The smart play is rarely the biggest score; it's the score that changes what happens next.
